Transportation

Osage County’s strategic location allows businesses and residents easy access to several major transportation routes. These include:

I-35, to the south;
Kansas Turnpike, to the west;
I-70, to the north;
US Highway 75, which crosses the county north and south,
Hwy 268, which crosses the county east and west, and
Hwy 56, which also crosses east and west

Interstate 435 is approximately 80 miles east. In addition, there is airport (see below) and railroad access in the county, as well as nearby in Topeka. Osage County is served daily by almost all major parcel and motor carriers including UPS, Federal Express and Yellow Transportation, Inc. Because of the number of traffic ways throughout the county, the Kansas City metro area can be reached within about 80 minutes from most any location in the county.

Airport

Air service is available in Osage County at the Osage City Airport, located just east of Osage City, Kansas. The airport houses 10 airplanes and 2 helicopters, presently and has a 2100 foot runway. Skydive Kansas also operates out of the airport, and teaches skydiving.

Expansion plans are underway to increase the runway to 4100 ft. in order to serve larger fixed wing aircrafts. For access jet aircraft, Forbes Field, south of Topeka is only a 25 minute drive. Kansas City International Airport is less than 2 hours away.
